Well you can't really compare it to any other kind of pain because it's a different kind of pain all together. It just feels like something is scratching you. It also depends on where you get it. I got my tattoo on my hip and it just felt like someone was scratching me with a safety pin over and over again in the same area. If you got it, say, on your back it would hurt a lot worse than if you got it on your arm. Afterwards, it just feels like a scrape. It really isn't a big deal and the pain is worth it in the end.

i heard that it hurts like walking barefoot on hot lava. but its worth it cause it looks awesome.

My friend told me that it hurt worse having a kid than getting a tattoo. But I have never done either so I don't know for sure, but it can't be all that bad - I've known many people to do it and they haven't complained once.
