Try and quit naturally. It will be hard, i know as my mom, brother, sister and most of there friends are smokers. So yeah, try natural, I heard if you get past the 2nd week, you are golden. Because it takes a full 2 weeks for the nicotine to get out of your system. This is the best because the patch puts some nicotine in your body (why it works) but if natural doesnt work, try the patch.
There will always be people smoking, but with your friends and family, if someone lights up, try and get away, but if you are in a car or something, just say "okay, you know that i quit/am trying to quit, so can you please wait till later?"

If by chance you decide you can't do it naturally, I would go get your ear zapped. It's where they zap you in the ear, it's worked great for a lot of people for smoking and dieting. It sends messages to the brain to make you not want to smoke. You can get it zapped as many times as you want as long as you don't start to smoke again. Just keep trying. Good Luck!!! TEENAGExHEARTS answered Sunday June 4 2006, 11:20 am: i think you should start off by throwing away all of the cigarettes that you keep in the house. next you should let your friends and family know that you want to stop smoking so they can respect that and not smoke around you.
hopeihelped answered Sunday June 4 2006, 11:09 am: Well, you could gradually stop. If you smoke a pack a day, each day, take away one cigarette. Eventually, you'll be down to nothing. However, I would keep a pack of nicotine gum near you so that if you have a craving, you can have a quick fix instead of having a whole cigarette. I wish you the best of luck! dhrutts answered Sunday June 4 2006, 8:33 am: Hi There,
Tobacco in cigarettes contains a highly addictive drug called nicotine.
Nicotine is actually a stimulant - smoking speeds up the body system increasing your heart rate and blood pressure.
There are more than 4000 chemicals in tobacco, most of which are bad for your health.
Smoking can leave your skin up to 40% thinner than normal, making early wrinkles all part of the package.
Every day people give up smoking in a way that works for them. Some go for hypnosis or nicotine patches, but ultimately it takes willpower.
You've got to want to quit:
Make a date to stop smoking and stick to it.
Steer clear of smoke-situations like coffee breaks and bars.
Don't look for an excuse to light up. Chewing gum can help keep the craving at bay (anything that keeps your mouth or hands occupied).
At moments of weakness focus on the plus points: Save cash.Feel better. Smell fresher. Live longer.
If you turn to the fridge instead of the fags, make sure it's stocked with healthy food so you don't have to worry about your waistline.
Remember that every day you go without a smoke you're beating the addiction.
Time it - after:
20 mins - your blood pressure drops back to normal levels
Two days - there's no more nicotine left in your body
Three to nine months - your lung capacity improves by ten percent
Five months - your risk of a heart attack is 50% less than a smoker
10 years - your chances of a heart attack falls to the same as someone who has never lit up.
Save money
A pack of fags costs around four quid
Stub out a 20-a-day habit and save well over a grand in a year
Save your life
Smoke and your chances of dying early shoots up. Here's what a long-term habit can do:
Cancer (lungs, mouth, nose, throat, leukaemia,
Chronic-breathing problems like bronchitis and emphysema.
Coronary heart disease, strokes and even gangrene.
