re: the ex boyfriend from hell: second question Hello,
thanks for answering my first question.
Here's the situation: the ex drove toward me in a parking lot and swerved at the last minute and glared at me--this was two weeks before he ran a guy off the road--that guy is now a paraplegic.
He tried to kill him!
My boyfriend knows all about this ex, by the way, and how dangerous he is.
The ex is now in prison and will be there at least until mid 2007, so I have time to breathe, but I'm still freaked out. He's a psychopath.
Your advice about a self defense couse is great, but I have chronic fatigue sydrome, so I don't have the strength.
The ex, about 3 1/2 years ago, took a sledgehammer and axe to my former house. He got probation.
Any other ideas?
Thanks so much! This is way too much reality for me!--musicfan

My God I guess! Thank goodness he is in prison for a while anyway.
Personally I think I would buy a gun and learn to use it safely. Both you and the boyfriend. I hesitated to say that on the public question since a lot of minors use the site.
I think you could try moving before he gets out. Not necessarily to a different state but a whole new location. Make it hard to find you. Don't let anyone you can't literally trust your life with know where you live.
If you work outside the home and can change jobs
do so. If you are locked in somewhere making good money and have benefits you can't afford to lose ( such as retirement), at least make it well
known to your employer to NEVER give out your personal info to anyone. Most aren't supposed to but it happens. Give them reasons why.
Get a vehicle that is unfamiliar to him. If you can't afford to do that perhaps you can at least have yours painted a different color. Keep anything that would identify the car as being yours out of sight. Such as things hanging on your mirror or riding in the back window. If you have bumper stickers...remove them or cover with new ones. Simple things like that. Basically, HIDE! Oh, and always drive with all doors locked.
get in the habit of doing it now. And always check the backseat before getting in.
As for the self defense classes, I know your CFS
might make that hard to do. You could call around though explaining your health issues and see if there isn't something you can learn. They have some classes that teach you simply how to gouge them in the eyes, where to stomp on their foot, how to use pepper spray...those kinds of things. Might help buy you some time in a dire situation.
I sure hope everything works out for you. If it takes a drastic move to make you feel better, then do it. I can certainly understand the need.
You sure don't want to live in fear the rest of your life.
Do keep me informed on how you're doing. My email address is on my column. Feel free to write
me anytime you feel like talking. I honestly do not mind at all.
Take care. :) ]
