ex boyfriend from hell -- second question and more info

Question Posted Friday June 2 2006, 1:11 pm

Hello Eustachius,
thanks for your response. Actually, the ex is in prison for trying to murder somebody--he ran a guy off the road and said guy is now paralyzed. The ex has crossed the line into psychopathic territory. His prison term may end as soon as mid 2007! Also, a couple of weeks before he ruined the other guy's life, he came at me in a parking lot and swerved off at the last minute.
My current boyfriend (I'm living with him and nobody knows where we are) fully knows about the ex and what he has done and what he's capable of. I had a restraining order before, when the ex took an axe and a sledgehammer to my former house, but it's obviously time to get another.
Any other advice? Thanks--musicfan

Ok, this is a lot more serious than I first thought. The prison will let you view what times the person is scheduled for release and whatnot, so you can keep an eye on that. You can still probably keep up a restraining order against him with what's been happening, and the police might even be able to keep tabs on where he is living after he's out.

If your ex knows where you live, and if you're in an appartment, then I would now recomend that you DO find a new place (since an appartment might be easier). Not too far, as you still need to work, but away from the area you are now. But it doesn't seem like the ex knows, so that's good. But keep a plan in mind in case something happens.

The restraining order might even be able to keep the people that know you from giving out your telephone number and address to this person, but I'm not sure. I think with issues like this the guy has to keep his noise clean for a year or so. And if he makes one wrong move, it's back to the slammer. I don't know everything you can do, but talk to the police, a lawyer, or someone that can tell you more opptions and figure out EVERYthing that you can do to protect yourself from this person.

Some people might not agree with this, but... Take some firearms classes, self defence, or something like that. If you really feel threatened by this guy, then you need to find ways to protect yourself when you're out and about. The good thing about a self defence class is that it can calm your nerves quite a bit and help you to relax and focus. At least it does with me...

Keep in touch! And please be careful! My family has gone through a similar situation, so I'll get some more info about things of this nature when I can.
