You really shouldn't use an "excuse". You have a reason for breaking up with him, right? Even if it's something like boredom (with the relationship), that is a legitimate reason. It will hurt a lot if you make up some excuse, so the best thing to do is just tell him your actual reason. And try to be nice about it. Being dumped is very painful.

the truth is always a good way to go.

my ex broke up with me and didnt give me the whole truth, it left me alot worse off than i would have been if she had just been honest with me.

hey!
from personal experience, I've learned that when I give excuses and the guy really likes you that he will spend all his time finding away to get around the excuse. giving an excuse is like giving false hope for a future relationship so just keep it simple and truthful, you dont have to go into detail like "you have bad breath and B.O" because it isnt nesscessary to hurt his feelings, but you could say " I'm really sorry but my feelings toward you changed and I dont think we should see eachother anymore. We're much better as friends"

And of course hes going to try to talk you out of it, but at that point you just have to ignore it because guys have a way of making you feel guilty sometimes. So just keep your head up high. He'll get over it and dont be surprised if he doesnt talk to you or bothers you alot.

well good luck. I hope I helped!!

byee!

Don't. With excuses, it will make it seem too much like you just hate him and need some way out. You should go to him and say "I'm sorry, but I think we need to see other people". Keep it as simple as that. An excuse can only hurt you.

Don't come up with excuses, just come out with the truth. It will be much easier to come out with the truth to stop any more problems in the future.
