ok well im 11 and i just started my period....like a week ago.... well ive only been wearing pads and i recently just tryed using tampons but they hurt sooooooo bad! do you know why? and what could i do to prevent this.. cause also my friend started hers and shes a swimmer so she started right away with a tampon and i dont know what to do?

The next time you do it, read the back of the box and step by step follow every word it says and don't leave ANYTHING out. Also, did you try to put it in when you were off your period? NEVER insert a tampon when you're not on your period because you need to be wet "in there." So don't put in the tampon until you're on your period and it will slide in MUCH easier. You could always try a different brand of tampons, because some tampons are made to go in more easier. You could always talk to your mom or friend and help them teach you how to put it in. Because the first time a lot of girls put it in wrong and that's why it hurts. Well, at least try my advice and tell me if it works.
