PAINTBALLING...my first time tomorrow

Question Posted Thursday May 25 2006, 9:33 pm

I'll be going paintballing for the very FIRST time tomorrow with a bunch of my guyfriends. My best friend and I will be the only girls there. I must admit I am a girly girl. Not a bimbo girly girl who freaks out when she breaks a nail, but nonetheless a girly girl. And I wanted to know if I can get any advice about what to expect tomorrow. Any tips or anything.

I went paintballing for the first time too about 2 months ago when the snow was starting to melt. I dressed in 2 sweaters and a waterproof jacket so I wouldn't get too wet. I wore 2 pairs of sweats and waterproof pants. Make sure you don't wear good clothes because although the paint is washable, it might not always come out and if you roll in the mud, it can get messy. When you get hit, it only hurts depending on where you get hit. If you get hit in the back of the shoulders or on the side of your ribs, thats where it'll hurt the most. The place you go paintballing will usually supply body armour that protects your chest and back at no extra charge. Don't dress too hot because you'll be running around. If you aren't sure of the game play, ask if you can watch the first few games. Good luck, and have lots of fun.

Expect loud popping noises from fast sem- automatic paintball guns. Most paintball guns aren't that loud, but there are some nice ones out there that are very loud, and people can shoot them very fast. I remember years ago playing and just the sound of them was enough to make your heart beat faster.

Paintballs don't always hurt. Wear a couple layers of shirts, and probably a thick bra. Also, wear baggy pants (long ones). Sometimes you don't even hardly feel paintballs because your clothes take in all of the shock. Paintballs hurt most when they don't break.

Honey, paintballs hurt... like HELL.
My advice? Take lots of advil and spray yourself with BenGay because 48 hours from now, you'll be polka-dotted with bruises.

A good paintball sniper is almost like a myth -- unseen, unheard, except for that splat that eliminates the enemy. Go to this website, and it gives you all the how 2's and tells you what not to do! [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

*A paintball mask is the most important thing to wear. Make sure you use a good mask every time you play. Wearing a ball cap under your mask is a good idea, too. Showing skin might be sexy in some places, but it’s a dumb idea when you’re playing paintball. When you wear long pants and long-sleeved shirts (and even gloves), not only are you likely to get less hurt by paintballs, but you can also slide, roll, crouch and do all those other essential moves more safely.*
