12//female hi. i want to be a great sewer. i have used a sewing machine before, but not that much and i want to get better. i wanted to make a dress and a shirt. are there any websites that can help be learn how to use a sewing machine better. and i want my dress to be a light color for a dance that i am going to, so do you have any suggestions for the fabic? webistes are appreicated. thanks in advance :] :]

hey. the best thing to do is to just practice. try taking two pieces of material and practice sewing with different patterns and such. you will get better over time. you can take classes at stores like JoAnnes that you can take. they have beginner to advance level of classes. here are some sites that you can look at that may help you:

for your dress fabric. the best thing to do is to just go to the store and have a look around. dont forget the clearence rack! you can find great stuff there! here are some cute fabrics:
