I am a restaurant manager and personnal licence holder and the present owner is selling and the new owner is not sure if he wants to keep me as he has a friend who he would like to do the job. Where do I stand regarding redundency or keeping my job. I have been employed for over a year.
Additional info, added Thursday May 25 2006, 7:49 am: Many thanks for your quick reply about my job. I was led to believe that a new owner had to take on all staff. If he did not want me would my brother in law who is the owner have to make me redundant. I am the only salaried member of staff and the takeover could happen at any time but i still have received no written notice from either party. . to hire and fire however they want to. Seniority
really doesn't count for anything unless they want it to.
Don't get me wrong, most smaller businesses are good about taking care of loyal employees. But should they want to be jerks and hire their buddies, you usually haven't a legal leg to stand on. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
