I had a whole long answer written out, left before I had time to finish it, and my boyfriend came along and closed the window it was in. So, that sucks.

I just got done final exams, and am in the middle of a summer session of a very hard class, so, I have a few techniques that might help you.

The thing that I started last semester was this: After a class, when you get home, write out a quick outline of what the professor went over. Not only does this help to etch the information into your brain by writing it down a second time, but this is a really really good quick study tool when you have to go back and study all that information. If you haven't been doing that, then start doing it. You probably don't have time to start for these classes, but for future references, start doing this for your class.

For each subject that you have a test in... set aside one or two days to study just that subject. Don't try to mix up study a bit of history, and then a bit of english at the same time, it will just confuse you. Your brain will be better able to hold all the information if you study this way.

Try to compare something to something in your life that your already familiar with. Um.. for example, I have to know catabolic and anabolic... catabolic sounds kind of like catastrophy, catabolic means to break something down... kind of like a catastrophy.

Try taking something that you need to memorize and making a phrase from the first letters of each thing. For example, in grade school, when we had to learn North, South, East, West... my teacher told us to remember Never Eat Shredded Wheat, or something to that effect, and that was always an easy way to tell the directions on a compass. Just make up your own phrases, or put a few words together to make up another word. Whatever it is, it will be a lot easier to remember. For example, if you need to learn about a few different things in history, and which one's came first, then just take the first letter of each and make a silly sentence. The sillier the sentence, the easier you'll remember it.

Use flashcards... they help immensly...

The only way I know of to stay calm is to study the material enough. You will never THINK it's enough, but as long as you try your hardest, you'll most likely get to class, look at the test and (hopefully) know most of the answers.

I used almost all of these techniques in the past semester and went from one class which I failed previously to an A. I'm quite proud.

In the future, I would also say that you should try to study every week, or after every class, so you won't feel so pressured for a big test.
