oregon trail

what were some major events that happened during the oregon trail. for example, cholera poisoning. (my sister) needs to draw a picture about it, and i wanted to help. so does anybody have any scenes ideas?

I know that some kids would fall out of the wagon and get killed by getting ran over by the wheels and actually it caused a lot of deaths. i know it's not a very positive thing but it's something.
Also i know that they had problems with crossing rivers.
Sorry I'm not much help.

River crossings were a HUGE event in the journey to Oregon. Many wagons sank in the rivers and people drowned.
