eyeliner

Question Posted Saturday May 13 2006, 10:53 am

Okay, I want to wear eyeliner soo bad, but whenever I put it on, it doesn't look right. I never smudge it, it just looks odd when it's on. I can't really describe it but I just don't look good in eyeliner. Is there any techniques to eyeliner and has anyone ever had this same problem? Help.

(ive answered a question like this before - so i kinda copied my answer and added/took out some stuff. so yah just so you know) anyway - your kinda the judge whether its "overdoing it" or looking right. but i personally like it right on the lower eyelid and a little lower from it.. if you do it and think its to much, dont be scared to take some off or take it all off and start over. for applying it, take your time. do it back and forth until its as dark as you want it. and be really consitrated. if theres things that can distract you.. you may end up poking yourself in the eye. ow. like mascara its helps (me atleast) if i have my mouth open a little.. also it may not look right because your not used to yourself wearing it. most likely you look older. most people say for blondes try brown and darker-hair colors use black. im a blonde and i use black, but its a personal preference. it looks more natural with those, but you never know. so you should try both and see which you like better. you can use a Q-tip to make it look more natural and not as severe. if you still need help or something i found you a site for help. hope this helps!! :] ♥

Have you considered this: are you comfortable with your tool? Do you use liquid or pencil? And are you happie with what you use, brand and type and the whole shebang?? If not, then I suggest experimenting until you find one that is more cozy and suitable to your needs.

When it comes to liquid eye liner or pencil eye liner, it's just a personal preference as to which we use. Certain things suit certain people. However, if you ask... chances are that most people will tell you that pencil is a better choice for them. It's a great start for a beginner who is just getting used to it. If you mess up, pencil is A WHOLE LOT easier to clean up and re-do than liquid is. Also, if you plan on carrying it around in a purse or pocket.. you risk the chance that the liquid may ruin [though I don't suggest carrying eye liner in your pocket]. If you DO mess it up, just take a tissue and slowly run it along the rim of your eye lid.. it'll come right up.

The desired effect of eye liner is to create the illusion of darkness just above the lashline to enhance the look of the lashes. To apply it, gently hold your eye lid down, and start at the inner part of the lid [closest to your nose]. Then just simply draw a thin line smoothly and evenly along the top and bottom lid, getting as close to the lashes as possible. If it looks like there is a space between the liner and your lashes, then I guess you just have to thicken the line a bit. Or, if you'd rather have a very thin line, I guess you just have to try again. One last thing, make shore you draw the line all the way to the outside corner.

If you're still experiencing difficulties, don't get discourage. It will probably take some practice -- it took me a while at first too. Now, I have it down incredibly well!!

And as for products, I think the two best brands of eye liner out there are "Meryl Norman" and "Beautique". "Meryl Norman", which can only be purchased at "The Meryl Norman Cosmetic Studios", is pricey [typically $8.50 - $15.00], but it REALLY IS good stuff. It goes on wonderfully, and stays on all day! On the other hand... I happen to think that "Beautique" is INCREDIBLE!! However, I've ONLY seen "Beautique" at "Sally's". Good news though, it's only .99 cents. TRUST ME.. I would never buy crap make up! I get only the best, so please, please, please, please DON'T let this dollar price throw you off - you'd be cheating yourself out of the best product out there!! I'd *PREFER* "Beautique" out of ANY other brand of eye liner on the market!! I could easily go out and buy a $15.00 pencil, but I'd RATHER get "Beautique"! "Beautique" glides on smoothly and REALLY LASTS ALLLLL DAY!!! I seriously CAN NOT promote this item enough! And if you still have doubts... for only .99 cents.. it's worth a shot!! [:

I apologize for the long reply. I get too into these make up questions, but if you'd like further assistance, don't hesitate to ask.

hey!! yeah i think i know what you mean... a lot of people wear eyeliner on the bottom or on the top and bottom, but i don't like how it looks on me that way! i just put it on top! i think you should try and switch it up like that... lining both the bottom and the top might be too much, so try to just put it on the bottom or just on the top and see if you like that! if you put it on top, put some mascara on too... that finishes it off nicely! :) i hope that helps!
