Ethernet cords Do Ethernet cords speed up a dial up connection?

The short answer:
No.
The long parts:
Ethernet (being CAT-5 or CAT-5e cables) are used in connecting system through a lan or to other devices that use a 10baseT (RJ45) connector.
Dial-up implies going through a phone line - so you're not using ethernet, but a point-to-point connection over the phone, which is by nature far, far slower than ethernet.
You can run phones over CAT-5 wiring, but that still doesn't make it ethernet. ]
