Spermacide is the slick feeling stuff that it is coated in, and it functions to "kill off" some of the sperm. Altogether, the condom and the spermacide on it are still less then 90% effective, meaning you are at risk for pregnacy (and some std's) 10% of the time. Better then nothing but not great. Make a GYN appointment with your doctor and talk to them about all your questions. ]
There's about a 20% chance that you will get pregnant if you use spermicide alone. That's 1 in 5! Not a risk worth taking. If you're talking about using condoms with spermicide, the chances of pregnancy go down to about 1%. Condoms without spermicide have a failure rate of about 3%.
