Borrow a guitar and show them how you play. Chances are, if you really care about it, they'll let you get it.
If you don't know how to play yet, ask for lessons first, to show you are serious. ]
it might help if you knew how to spell GUITAR (lol srry)! but anyways, try telling them that music and the arts is a fading eduacation in schools, it is very important for children, teens, and adults to be connected with music and art! it develops ones mind and heart in ways that schools cant. tell them that being musically inclined will help you in so many ways, it reduces stress, it takes out your emotions, and keeps you off the streets/ parties and puts you under their watchful eye, while you learn and develop as a person! thats a good argument to start with, how them how important it is to you, and they should give in, also show them that you dedicated to learning and would take it very serously! ]
