It may have been pre-shrunk or made out of material that doesn't shrink. That said, what you should do is set your washing machine to "hot, hot". Then, after it's done washing, put it in the dryer. If the dryer has temperature settings use the hottest one. Keep an eye on it, meaning, open the dryer and feel it and look at it every ten minutes or so. You don't want it to burn or shrink too much. From your question I gathered that you don't have a dryer, but I'm not sure if you have a washing machine (I didn't see your question from before). If you don't have a washing machine, then soaking it in hot (not warm) water will work instead of using the machine. Make sure the material is hot and make sure it stays hot. Put it under the faucet or something. It would be best if it were still hot when you put it in the dryer. There isn't a set temperature and you can probably figure out what's hot and what's not. If it doesn't work that much, do the whole process twice in a row and you may see better results. Good luck. [ sizzlinmandolin's advice column | Ask sizzlinmandolin A Question ]
Moop answered Monday April 17 2006, 2:12 pm: Since hoodies are made of cotton which is a cellulose fiber, it will not shrink. Wool and other fibers from animals shrink, but cotton will not. Woolen items felt, with water and agitation, because the scales on the wool swell, rub against each other and bind together, creating a denser, shrunken fabric. Since cotton is a plant fiber, it doesn't have scales. therefore it cannot shrink. [ Moop's advice column | Ask Moop A Question ]
