It's not quite charlie horse....

Question Posted Wednesday April 12 2006, 9:06 pm

Charlie horse is when the muscles contract, I know, but what happens quite often, for me, is that two muscles in my calf twist in opposite directions (why, I don't know), interlock, then compress against eachother.

What is it? How can I prevent it? What can I do when it happens?

Sometimes you need more potassium.... eat bananas to prevent it.

Maybe you are mutating into some other-wordly creature. Have you been accidentally injected with alien DNA? That would certainly do it.

that sounds like what i have right now.. i was told i have a muscle spasm (also know as a knot but more savere in the legs)

you prevent it mainly by stretching and always warming up before you do activities and what not

i got mine from running track.. i was told it could have either been from not stretching well enough or i could have a stress fracture in my leg and the muscles are spasming in order to fix the bone and protect it

i was told to go see an ortopedic doctor to make sure but if its only a light spasm (like how mine started) just stretch it and ice it and it should get better within a day or 2
