Will It Hurt? A Pap test is generally painless, although you may feel some pressure or a small cramp when the cervix is wiped to acquire cells for examination. [ kristen22's advice column | Ask kristen22 A Question ]

No, it's not painful. It's slightly uncomfortable but it lasts for 2 seconds and isn't that big of a deal. He or she takes this little scraper and collects a sample from your vaginal walls to test to make sure everything is normal. It's not the horrible thing everyone makes it out to be.
