The Pap test, also called a Pap smear, checks for changes in the cells of your cervix. The cervix is the lower part of the uterus (womb) that opens into the vagina (birth canal). The Pap test can tell if you have an infection, abnormal (unhealthy) cervical cells, or cervical cancer.
How Long Will It Take? The pelvic exam takes 15-20 minutes; the Pap test portion takes less than 5 minutes.
Will It Hurt? A Pap test is generally painless, although you may feel some pressure or a small cramp when the cervix is wiped to acquire cells for examination. ]
Actually, you are supposed to get see this type of doctor when you become sexually active, not a year later. But that's not what you were asking. No, it's not painful. It's slightly uncomfortable but it lasts for 2 seconds and isn't that big of a deal. He or she takes this little scraper and collects a sample from your vaginal walls to test to make sure everything is normal. It's not the horrible thing everyone makes it out to be. ]
it doesnt hurt. you not supposed to get one until a year after youve had sex. and the thing they stick in you isnt near as big as a penis should be its flat and metal and will probably be cold and it will probably be a bit awkward and they stick a giant qtip in and dap come cells off your cervex. ]
