There is a difference between the two. A diary is the documentation of your day-to-day events, actions and thoughts about people place and things you experience. It is an exact record as you see it. Diaries are always records of actual events in a person's life. Journals, on the other hand, are much more creative and thought provoking. I like to write stories, for example. I didn't think that my characters were all that realistic, so I use to keep a journal of interesting characters I met or observed. I wanted to practice my writing skills, so, I'd to out someplace and just observe people then describe their physical characteristics to get practiced in describing realistic people for my stories. When you feel confused about a situation you can journal random thoughts that come into your mind. This sometimes helps people get clear on the direction they want to take with a situation. Nostradomos, the 16th century prophet, was journaling when he was putting down his visions of the future. Journaling is a great way to get your thoughts clear or to be creative. Journaling does not have to be factual it can be fictitious. I hope this helps.
Namaste!

Basically the same thing. Only i think a boy would call it a journal if he did becuase it would be a little stupid if he said it was a diary. So a journal is more for boys and diary is more for girls. Dont rate 5s for all answers. Rate wat you think. Dont get me wrong i want a 5 but if you think this totally stinks be my guess lol.

Asolutely nothing. They are too words for the same exact thing. I think that 'diary' sounds a little girly, which is why some guys prefer 'journal'. But there really is no difference. ]
I'm not sure if there's even a difference; I mean, yeah, like sweetie4eva said, you write "Dear Diary", but that's it. You write personal things in both, so really, there isn't.

its really the same thing but some ppl feel stupid calling it a diary and guys never want to admit to writing in a diary but they will to writing in a journal, and in a journal you dont wirte "dear Diary" so i guess the "dear diary" part is the only difference. ]
