my school vs. other school- a little lengthy sorry

Question Posted Sunday March 19 2006, 5:37 pm

15/f

i've been going to this stupid school since i was in second grade... but i dont think that anyone has any idea just how much i hate it there! I hate that school SO MUCH! i feel like crying every day on my way over there. the tuition of the school is really expensive, but i have a scholarship of $132,000. i have no idea how i pulled that off because the curriculum is SO DIFFICULT! you get about 6 hours of homework every night, i get home at 8 every day. im not exaggerating. everyone is kinda mean and i don't have any friends there... we don't even have a cheerleading squad at my school, which is what i love to do. i feel so pressured there. i don't think anyone my age should feel this stressed with work. I've talked to my mom about this and told her everything i felt, and she won't take me out of there! i really want to go to this other school, where i DO have friends, there is a cheerleading squad, the tuition is less expensive, and i would be getting enough sleep...! the curriculum is challenging there, but it's not overworking me like it is here. i just don't understand why she won't let me go over there! i just wanna be happy... i dont want to go to this stupid school! i hate it here! my first year that i went there, this little girl threatened me.. and it turned into something really serious... and i know that its kind of going back.. but i'm just trying to show that its not exactly a warm welcome... and then in eighth grade, i had problems with this girl because i don't even know why. I'm a pretty good girl... meaning that i get good grades, i'm not a trouble-maker, i've never gotten in big trouble at school or anything, but i hate it there so much! i don't think anyone understand what it's like to go to a school where you have no friends, walk through a hallway where everyone is pushing and shoving you... and whenever i wear make-up to school, people get it with me... i just don't undertand...! can sum1 please give me some advice.. please!!! i'd appreciate it... really!

Ugh I know how you feel! I'm not in a bad school, I'm just in a bad class. I am totally stressed and always do homework and study and my life is so depressing because of ONE class. I begged my mom to take me out and she refused. So I'll try to help you.

For one, you should realize that it doesn't matter what middle school or high school you go to. It really doesn't. Do you think colleges and future businesses are like "Hm, she went to a really bad high school but got good grades. Let's not accept her." No, they are not like that. Let your mom KNOW that. It only matters what classes you're taking and what your grades are, not what school you go to.

Now, this is what you should do :) Just stop studying all the time. I mean it. What's more important, enjoying your childhood and getting a healthy amount of sleep or being unhappy all the time without time for relaxing?

Think about it. In 20 years, when you look back at your youth, will you like what you see? That you studied and did your homework 24/7? No, you will regret it, trust me. So just stop working so hard. I'm not telling you to give up on school, I'm saying that you should get enough sleep and work a maximum of 3 hours a day out of school on homework/studying. If your mom gets mad because your grades drop a little, then say that it's because she kept you in that ridiculous school.

About not having friends, I'm sorry :( I don't know what to do about that except get together with friends from the other school on weekends.

I'm serious about this: STOP WORKING SO HARD. I mean it! Having fun is a part of life; overworking yourself isn't. Getting sleep is a part of your health; studying all night isn't. Talk to your mom again and be FIRM with this. Don't back down and say "All right.." Cry to her and beg to get out and explain why. See a school councelor if your mom won't budge.

Good luck. :)

going to a school you dislike is annoying, but i kind've can see why your mom won't take you out. the school is probably good learning wise & you have to remember that's what you're there for. she probably juss doesn't want you to mess up your future. i mean, i know a great part of school is the whole social thing, homework, etc etc. but homework actually helps you. yes its a pain in the butt to do, but really, you're there to learn & that's probably what she thinks is best. you shouldn't hate going there so much, so yes that's a bit of a problem. maybe you can try talking to your mom again & tell her that you really really want to change. being happy is a big part of it too, because you're basically at school most of your day. if you try talking to your mom a bunch of times maybe she'll let you, but if not then you can't really do anything. she's probably juss thinking about your education, not really the other parts of it.

-hope that helped!♥
