I suggest you try talking to your friend. Let her know how you feel, and see if she is okay with you getting closer to him. If not, just keep things casual between yourself and the guy.

well i dont really know for sure if this helps or not but my friend had the same problem, well not really the same but the guy she liked had a girlfriend and she didnt want to tell anyone about it because she didnt want his girlfriend to get angry so i just told her to follow her heaart and dont care wether someone else likes him its your choice who you like

i think you should tell your best friend first of all, because if you don't thats how a lot of friendships get ruined. if she's really your best friend you two will work things out, if she gets mad then shes not such a great friend and you could do better.
