am i too young to started in babysitting

Question Posted Tuesday February 14 2006, 7:14 pm

I want to start babysitting in march. I've done mother's helper, and babysitting courses. I think that families wont take a 12 year old seriously. Mother's helper is one thing, babysitting is another. I don't know if they will think im too young. I am responsible, and i love little kids. I babysit my baby cousins, but im still not sure if i should start babysitting so early.

well by law i believe you have to be 14 to do it b/c technically you are not even legally old enough to stay home by yuorself. i would say go for it but dont even go out and try to watch more than 1 kid at a time and know that you will prob get payed no more than like $2 and hour because you are so young. and you will need references that arent related to you. i would try going to your close neighbors that know you well and ask them if you can watch their kids for free for an hour or 2 mainly for expierence and so you can get a reference from them. also if you make flyers let them know of your age. if i were a mom i would say you were to young but some moms may need you for an hour or 2 everyonce and a while if they need to run out shopping or whatever.

whatever you do i would say avoid getting a summer job, like one that you will be there all day unless there is only 1 kid and they are over the age of 4 or so incase something happens

just know your limits and not go out and try to do things you dont think you can
