i don't talk to her much but i really want to get to know her. i am quite shy

Well, if you are in the same class as her, you could start a conversation by asking her about the homework or something. Just keep having little simple conversations and soon they will build up to deeper more meaningful ones. Remember about things that are important to her to show her that you care. Good luck!

BTW- since valentines day is coming up it might be nice if you make her a nice card. DOn't make it too sappy or it might scare her.
