ok,my delema is split ends. First off im not sure i i even have them. My sister (18 years old) told me that new hair strands grow and they are shorter than the rest of your hair,therefor thats what i have,is this statment true?My hair is layerd so its hard to tell wich is a split end or not.i have been using the straightener for a while,but my hair hass always looked so healthy. Do you have any tips on identifying a split end?My hair is not actually split and the end of my hair,but in the middle,can they split in the middle of your hair,or is my sister's statement true?i will rate to what i think is appropriet.

[hence the name] You can pick up a couple pieces of your hair and look closely at the bottoms, if there is one piece of hair but is split and has two different pieces coming off of it, then it is split. If you find them, then all you need to do is go get a trim. Straightening your hair does give you these.
fabulous11 answered Monday January 2 2006, 6:35 pm: No a split end is like one peice of hair that has split at the end but not all the way. Lost of people tend to pull them a part but thats really ad for it. They are kinda hard to find cause ou have to look real close
strictlyrouge answered Monday January 2 2006, 6:15 pm: look at the tip of several strands. split ends happen when one strand of hair has split at the bottom, creating a kind of fork in the road look, it makes hair look fried and unkempt. lots of people have the urge to pull them apart. DO NOT DO THIS. instead, trim a 1-2 inch section of the offending strands, it'll make your hair look healthier without needing to fork out money for treatments and garbage like that.
