If you're downloading from dafont.com, choose the font that you want, and there should be a link on the right that says download. Click it, and there should be a box that asks you whether to open the file or save it. Save it and open it. If you're using Windows XP (unless you have Winzip or something like that, if that's the case, look for a function called "extract" and put the extracted file in C:WindowsFonts), it should open in Windows Explorer as if it's a folder, and there should be a file inside with a name "fontname.ttf" (with the name of the font you're downloading). Copy this file to C:WindowsFonts and you should be able to use it.
