To rip music means to take it from a CD, and put it on your computer, or mp3 player.

When you insert a CD into your computer, you can "rip" the music off of it, which saves it onto your computer. So later, you can either burn cds with those certain songs that you "ripped", or you can put them on your MP3 player. Windows Media Player has these abilities. You should check it out and experiment with it. I hope I helped:)
