should i?

Question Posted Tuesday November 22 2005, 5:58 pm

16/f
Alrighty, so I have liked this guy since this summer. when we met, he still had a girlfriend but now, they broke up. Well, his best girl friend came up to me and said "you should just ask him out...you know that you both like each other..." So my question is, how do i ask him out? I have never done that before, so I was wondering how to go about it.
thanks in advance

There are many ways you could go about asking him out.
It also depends on if you're just going to be asking him like on a date... or "out". If you get what I mean.

You could do it over the phone, on an IM, in a note, or in person.

Obviously in person is the best way to go.

Get him alone, perferably somewhere outside of school and just straight out ask him.

don't beat around the bush or get someone to do it for you.

You already have a pretty good tip that's he's gonna say yes, so dont worry about it. Go with the flow.

If you are asking him out specicifly on a date. be sure to ask about a certain day, not just whenever, if you want to better secure a date.

Hey let's go see Harry Potter on friday. If he doesn't like Harry Potter, he's not worthy of dating anyway.

Ya go ahead! Sounds like you are somewhat shy :) If you just want a friend to hook you two up that would be cool too, but i reccomend going about asking him yourself, lol, and if you do just you know, go up to him and ask him!
hope this helps you! good luck!

OK- I want to answer the question you actually asked, and I will, but before anything happens I just want to advise you this much. It is fine if you feel confident and ask this guy out; but the reason I don't suggest the girl asking the guy out is not because I'm old-fashioned but because that's letting the guy make you initiate. If he says yes, that'll start off a whole relationship where you're constantly chasing after him because he knows you'll do it too. I suggest that you wait for him to ask you out--if he knows you like him. If it works best for you to ask him out, that's fine. You could ask him out in private if that were better, like hanging out at your house or something. Just pop the question, be like "Let's go out" in a cute way and if he asks you if your joking just shake your head no.

Try to get him when he's by himself & not around his friends. Approach him with confidence & keep it short and sweet and straight to the point. Hope that helps.

Well, if he is interested in you, you may not have to. You can give him a call/im/etc and say hi and find out what he is up to. Get the ball rolling and see if you both are still interested in each other. If he is, my guess is he'll ask you out.
