what does the phrase "eat the phone" mean?

some kid told me that people were making fun of him for what he did before the dance. he seemed kind of high maybe. do you think it has to do with drugs?.

I believe eat the phone means that you should pick up the reciever first and slowly crunch down on it. Then when this is consumed move onto the rest and eat that. when you are done wash it down with milk
