Question Posted Monday October 31 2005, 2:58 pm

Mackenzie! My name is Hollis, I'm 22 and I'm pregnant with a pair of twins, a boy and a girl. I went on to BabyNames and got a list of boy names and girl names. My husband really doesn't care what our children are going to be named, so the choice is up to me ;). I'm asking people's opinions on names, and I've observed that you have very strong opinions.

Here are my girl names:

Halcyon
Trinity
Juno (my younger sister is also named Juno)
Hortense
Artemis

And my boy names:

Peregrin
Fallon

If these names just aren't your style, could you at least pick one that doesn't sound as bad to you as the rest?

Thanks in advance

Hollis :)

Hiya, Hollis!! Congratulations on your two bundles of joy, first of all. :D

True, these names wouldn't be my first choice, but I can see past my own personal perference to accept them for what they truly are, no problem. :)

Of the choices you've given me, I think Trinity is a beautiful name for a female. I think Halcyon would do fine, as well. If you want my honest opinion, I don't find Artemis to be a very flattering and appealing name in the slightest. But, that's just my thought.

And of the two male names, I think either name would be a wonderful choice. While Fallon isn't too terribly common in today's society, I'd say it's definitely more known than Peregrin. When I hear Peregrin, I hear a message of strength and independence; it's just what I feel - sends strong emotion, I thought. I like it.

I definitely understand your wanting your children to have outstanding names, and I can not say as I blame you. I, too, perfer less common titles; though, I haven't put much thought into caring what the meaning behind them meant (but I also don't have children, so it doesn't matter). However, I'd say some of my favorite names would be Malaysia, Ephram, Imbruglia, Serenity, and Belbin. ;)

But I wish you luck in deciding, Hollis. [: Know that I'm here if you feel you're ever in the need for another opinion.
Take care (and update me?:)),
