Democracy

Question Posted Sunday October 23 2005, 4:07 pm

Does anyone here have the poem "Democracy" by E.B. White? It starts out "Surely the Board knows what democracy is..." I need it for school! Or can someone tell me where to find it? I tried Google, but no luck

I tried everything I could think of. I may have found a way to get it but it keeps giving me the
Page cannot be found nonsense.

Here is what I found. This New Yorker article seems to be the original source no matter where I try. It is highlighted on the wikipedia page so if you care to try later, maybe the page will be back up. Go here....[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

"new yorker" is hilighted in this quote. Hopefully it is only down temporarily. :)

"Democracy is the recurrent suspicion that more than half of the people are right more than half of the time."

New Yorker. July 3, 1944.
