You should set your own standards and decide the right time for yourself, when YOU are ready, not when you hit the average age. My opinion, at least wait until 17 at the minimum so your mind is ready to ajust to the mental attatchment that follows sexual activity. otherwise, you may regret doing it when you were not mentally ready. Again, one way to avoid all problems following sex is to wait until marriage. But in the end, it is your decision to make when you feel ready. You have a less chance of getting a disease and you would have saved yourself for your husband. It's also what God orders us to do. This probably isn't what you want to hear, but i think that waiting is the "appropriate time to lose your virginity".
