how to give a hickie?

Question Posted Saturday October 15 2005, 1:12 am

I've tried giving my girlfriend one but all there is a small faded red mark... that goes away within a few minutes. I've tried sucking hard, but I don't want to hurt her that much. I've heard nibbling/biting works. I don't know.

Well, if you weren't already aware, a hicky is simply a bunch of broken blood vessels, which is what we call a 'bruise'. I'm not sure if you knew that or not, but I figured it was important to know what exactly you're getting into. Personally, I don't do hickys. Not because I "don't know how" to give one, but because the thought of what we're physically and technically doing is a harmful action. I mean, come on: "broken blood vessels". I don't know about you, but just typing this made my stomach turn and I'd like to vomit right about now. :'(

Anyhow, as far as giving a hicky... there's not much to it. However, I DO believe it's something that has to be 'learned'. You'll see that it's easy, once you get the hang of it. You can practice on your arm, if you'd like.

All you have to do is place your *slightly opened mouth against the skin, and suck in. (Also, you mentioned "nibbling", and I think that's fine - just take precaution with this; don't hurt her.) While the skin is still suctioned within your mouth, slightly pull your head back alittle, and side to side (while still hanging onto your grip). Be aware that you might have to keep that up for a good 30-60 seconds. However, often times in a moment of passion.. 60 seconds goes by in a snap. But really, that's honestly all it takes. I tried to look online for additional directions and/or reassurance, but there just wasn't anything.

I advise you to not think about it while you're trying this. Just relax and cherish the moment. I'm sure you'll do fine! ;D

sorry to say but hickies are not that attractive and girls sure they brag about it to their friends but it gets old fast and then other kids find out and they may be jealous but your girlfriend will probably end up covering it up in the end so what is the point.

A hickey is a bruise. Just like any other bruise you get on your body, it will fade when your body heals. There's no set rate. Some people heal quickly, some people heal slowly. It all depends on your own body. It's nothing wrong that you are doing, it's just that she tends to heal easier and it goes away.
