i'm 13 and i started my period a few months ago. pads are really annoying and give me wedgies alot =/ plus smell bad so i want to start using tampons. so yesterday i tried about 7 times but i couldn't get it through! it just hurt so badly. and i read the instructions but they didn't make sense? please help how do i get it through? any tips? and is now a good time to be starting? thanks
You cannot possibly do something wrong like loose it inside of you or be unable to remove it. That is myth. I do know it can feel weird or uncomfortable from all the reading I have done as a counselor.
A tip that comes up is putting vaseline on the aplicator, put a foot on the rim of the toilet and try to slide it in. There is only one way you can go with it so it will with practice go in.
Your best bet would be to get online and go over to the best site for teens, parents, educators on sexuality called Scarleteen it has articles on this subject and questions from people who are having difficulty with it www.scarleteen.com Tampax and OB have sites as well with better instructions. Hope this helps you out. Definitely visit Scarleteen.com it will be a Godsend to you and other teens with these questions. [ GDROB's advice column | Ask GDROB A Question ]
TaintedPurity answered Tuesday October 4 2005, 8:53 pm: It's easiest to put a tampon in when you're very bloody...it sounds gross but it's so you can easily slide in. You could even buy some KY jelly to use as lubrication. Try buying the teen fit slim tampons first...they are VERY thin so they can go in easier.
