Karen answered Saturday October 1 2005, 10:30 pm: I just came back from seeing that movie with a few friends. My friends did not get it but I did.
The movie is mainly about a mother trying to find her daughter and tries to prove her sanity while being faced that she is losing her mind. The mother of the girl who went 'missing' designed the plane. The flight crew and passengers of the plane thought she was psychologically insane when entirely, she wasn't, because she no one believed that her daughter was on the plane. That Carson guy, who was the air marshall, was the kidnapper and the hijacker who knew the plane and the design of it. When she turned the power off and set of the oxygen masks, that was a way for her to get to another part of the plane (my friends thought something happened). Basically, she searched through the plane and discovered that Carson had her daughter, when they landed. The two guys, who the mother saw staring into her daughter's room before the departed to New York, never did anything and that was a set up. You knew the girl was on the plane, since her stuffed bear was found. Every thing was planned throughout the movie, hence the name of it. The woman knew the plane better than anyone, resulting in the finding of her daughter. She kills the guy and the movie ends.
I thought this would be easy to explain but it isn't. I know I didn't go into detail and that I gave you the whole plot of the movie but it's hard to put my words into this by typing.

Already emotionally devastated by the unexpected death of her husband, Kyle desperately struggles to prove her sanity to the disbelieving flight crew and passengers, while facing the very real possibility that she may be losing her mind. Though neither Captain Rich (Bean), nor Air Marshal Gene Carson (Sarsgaard) want to doubt the bereaved widow, all evidence indicates that her daughter was never on board, resulting in paranoia and doubt among the passengers and crew of the plane. Desperately alone, Kyle can only rely on her own wits to solve the mystery and save her daughter. ([Link](Mouse over link to see full location))
