I'm shy but I want to make friends. I'm in clubs (band, chorus, jazz band) but whenever it comes to conversation-making, if I'm around another friend it's easy to talk, but if I'm by myself I'm really shy! How can I become less shy, or at least overcome this. This would be greatful because I think I only have like 9 friends. Heh, thats NOT NORMAL!!! Lol but its kind of hard because I'm easily intimidated by people. Thank you for ANY help, I mean ANY!!

Well it is good to just start a small conversation you could start by giving a complement or sumthing like that and it is good that you are in clubs, but just be your self. and dont talk about your self to much make sure you ask ?'s about the person you are talking to and dont have a huge conversation the first time you talk to some one i mean if u see a person in band club you can just chat a lil bit every time you have a meeting or w/e and then you guys can maybe or eventualy start hanging out and can become realy good friends! :) but trust me be your self and be comfident and just speek ur mind! trust me it will work!

Don't go into a full-fledged conversation the first time you talk to someone. Just start with small talk. For example, instead of totally babbleing about how you get solos in every music you play, Just say something simple, perhaps a compliment, like, "Hey nice solo."
Eventually after some small talk, they will start having more lengthy conversations with you =]
