ok, my question is kind of stupid, but i could really use some help.
for the record, im 15/f (soon to be 16)
i honestly, dont want to be this way, and i am not at all looking for attention, but i honestly do believe i am suffering from a few mental-illnesses, depression, OCD, paranoia, and schizophrenia.
i have done a little bit of research on all of these problems, and i seem to fit it pretty well.
i want to tell my mom, so i can get help, but i am afraid she wont believe me, because she never believes me when i talk about things like this.
neither does my father, a few years ago i even said i was going to kill myself and they both responded with "yeah, ok, whatever"
and im just seeking advice in how to ask my parents, or if any of you know how to cure these problems on my own, thanks in advance. ill rate.
Additional info, added Friday September 16 2005, 7:14 pm: i also have a very bad sleep pattern, and i constantly wake up during the night, ive tried sleep aids and even nyquil..lol...can anyone help with that? is this a seperate problem or just a result of one i already have?. There is no way you can treat depression without help along the way. OCD and Schizofrenia can be confused as the same thing. I used to think I was skitzo, but OCD can make you obssess over things and make it seem like their is a voice in the back of your head. It`s because your mind is obsessing over thoughts involunterily. Sometimes when you`re going to sleep and you hear something going on in your head, just say something over and over and over to try to pay attention to something else, or sing a song in your head, these may or may not work for you, but if you have OCD believe me YOU NEED TO GET HELP! because those obssessive thoughts will turn into compulsions, I used to have the same problem, i`d have things going on and on in my head, and have panic attacks, and then i started the hand washing crap, so believe me you need to get help quick. Ladyofthemoon answered Friday September 16 2005, 8:11 pm: Well, to help you with your sleeping problem, first of all, get yourself on a regular schedule. Go to bed at the same time and wake up atr the same time, even on days off. Don't eat anything right before bed. Spray your sheets with water with a few drope of lavender essential oil mixed in. Use lavender in whatever form you can........lotions, body spray, etc. Make yourself a cup of either sleepytime tea from celestial seasonings or heat up some milk, add some honey and vanilla and a chamopmile tea bag.
Do NOT use Nyquil as a sleep aide....lots of alcohol and not good for you!!
For your other problems, I think mostteenagers experience the things you are feeling. I suggest you journal every night and try meditation. Theyare wonderful in helping you feel better about the things you are feeling. [ Ladyofthemoon's advice column | Ask Ladyofthemoon A Question ]
HowYouDooin answered Friday September 16 2005, 7:32 pm: people that are truly sick do not admit to it and dont pay attention to what ever their illness is (mentaly)
a lot of people have their share of psycological issues at those ages so it might pass
it will most likely pass, but just aproach your parents straightfarword and tell them the issue if you do feel like you are ill
(happened to a few friends that thought that, was coused by events in their lifes, they perfectly fine now)
