I've had a cast on my wrist for almost three weeks, and I'm thinking about cutting it off. It's really soft, so it doesn't help that much, and basically just gets in the way. Would take it off really be very bad for it? I only fractured it, and they expect me to wear it for six weeks. I'm ready to go back to football and not have to worry about the stupid thing. Is three weeks long enough for a fractured wrist to heal enough?

Leave it on or you'll do some permanent damage. If it breaks all the way through, you'll be out twice as long, plus in all likelihood, it will probably require surgery. oxshortstufffxo answered Friday September 16 2005, 7:50 am: no im sorry its dangerous if you take it off because you could break it easily again and like sk8trash said it could grow all deformed. And if you broke it again youd again have to wear a cast for even more then six weeks so your better safe then sorry:-) But maybe you could go to the doctor and ask them if you can take it off earlier and they can check if your arm has already healed yet. sk8trash answered Friday September 16 2005, 4:37 am: What ever you do, DO NOT CUT IT OFF!!!! trust me, you don't want to do that. If you do cut it off, your bone might heal all funny so your arm will be like dis-formed. Don't do it!! It makes your bone grow in the wrong spot.. We know casts are annoying, but they are for the healing of your wrist... [ sk8trash's advice column | Ask sk8trash A Question ]
