Wow,13 is really young to get your tongue pierced!I was 18 when I did!Hehe But it really doesn't hurt nearly as bad as you think. It's very quick, and it's over before you know it.Kind of a quick pinch.Your tongue will be swollen, and it will ache. The best thing to do for the aching is just plain old tylenol. They'll tell you to suck on ice cubes to help keep the swelling at a minimum, and it DOES help.Don't eat anything with salt for those first few days!Trust me,now THAT is pain!!Hehe To keep it clean, they should recommend a mouthwash and this product that is essentially benzoyl peroxide. For the life of me I can NOT remember the brand name, but they'll tell you at the piercing place. They tell you how many times a day,but you periodically rinse with the mouthwash, and put a couple drops of the benzoyl peroxide solution right around the ball of the tongue ring and let it foam up,it's just cleaning it and fighting off any chance of infection. The most important thing is to go to a clean, reputable place. They'll tell you all of this, and you can watch them take all of the tools and the tongue ring out of sterile packaging,so you know it's clean! If you have any more questions, feel free to write me,ok?Take care!
