im getting a puppy!

I finally convinced my parents into letting me get a puppy. We've been looking around and found a few that we liked and we're buying one soon. I was wondering if you could give me some tips on how to make that puppies first night in our home as safe, fun, and not scary at all. Please help! I'll rate =] thanks!!
