Yup. Limewire has a bunch of viruses and spyware hiddin in it, it took me a while to figure it out. I had to keep redoing my computer because I thought I had downloaded them from something else. Delete limewire and download adaware, so you can remove the spyware from your computer =) If that still doesnt work then you might have to reinstall XP.

if you know where you instaled limewire then this wil help you but if you have no idea where it is then its pointless

do the following

START>RUN> (type in) regedit
HKY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE(where you instaled it and delete the folder)

then while still in the registry

HKEY_CURRANT_USER>SOFTWARE>(where you instaled it and delete the folder)

try not to mess around with the registry if you dont know what your doing becouze it can really mess up ur comp

hope my advice helped

Limewire is a file-sharing program, so there is a good chance that it WAS limewire. What you need to do, is delete limewire. First un-install it, then delete all of its folders. After that, you need to run a virus checker (I recommend Norton) to see if your computer indeed has a virus, and if you can just delete it or if more action needs to be taken. Good luck.

It sounds like your system is infected. I just wrote a long answer on how to disinfect your system, and protect it in the future; you can find that answer here: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

As for LimeWire, I believe it includes spyware. If you install, update, and regularly run all the programs I listed in the link above, you should be protected. Personally I recommend using WinMX instead of LimeWire; it's a little less pretty, but there's no spyware or adware. And the music availability is good.

Good luck!

With many peer to peer applications one can proccur many viruses, because the files one may take can often be infected with viruses. Many people just share files that have malicious codes just to be jerks. It's very possible that you got it from a file you got off of lime wire. Personally, I'd uninstall lime wire, and run a viral protection program. If that doesn't work then you'll probably have to reboot your entire computer, and wipe it clean.

I'm not sure =/ I've got Limewire, and I know I've got spyware, but nothing too threatening. Delete it, and then see how your computer runs.
I know Limewire slows mine down a bit.
