hi, well i was reading your column and it looks like you give people a lot of good advice. and i'm about your age also. so, here's my question. i like this guy who's just the greatest guy ever. i don't really know him that well though. when i see him i just want to go talk to him, but i don't want to look like an idiot or anything because he doesn't really know me. and really, all i want is be friends with him at least. so how can i do that? and also, i'm sort of confused, because of the guy i used to like before. i liked him last year, before i even knew the guy i like now, and i was convinced that i just liked him as a friend now. but lately, we've been talking more, and i think i'm starting to like him again. but i just want to like him as a friend. so, basically what i'm saying is i'm not sure of my feelings. any advice?

Hey! I'm glad you like my advice! :-) Yes, I am 13 and yes, I have been in this situation before... many, many times. I always like guys that I don't even know! Really, how I went out with the guy I didn't know but I got to know him was because of my friends. They're all crazy and they wanted me to go out with him so they pushed me into him and I dropped my stuff and he helped me pick it up and he introduced himself and I introduced myself. He started liking me and we started talking more and finally we hooked up!
This might not seem like a very "real" story like it's a "fairy tale" or something! But it CAN happen. Run into this guy and just start talking to him. Say things like "Oh my gosh, I am SO sorry! Really, I wasn't watching where I was going. I'm so-and-so, by the way." and you won't look like an idiot.
As for the OTHER guy that you liked LAST year... I think you should really go for HIM because he talks to you a lot and stuff. You just have more chance with HIM than you do a guy you barely even know. I think you have a really good chance with him and you should NOT be shy because that proves that you care if someone knows that you like him and really, guys don't like that! You have to be up front, laugh at EVERYTHING that he says (ONLY IF IT'S FUNNY) The reason why I say that is because I had a friend and I told her the same thing, only I left out the "ONLY IF IT'S FUNNY" part so everything he said, she laughed and she STILL hasn't gone out with him. LOL
