yeahh 99 cents a song I'm pretty sure. Not too bad considering... but it depends how many you want to download. Uploading songs from your c.d.s you already own is free though. You cant download songs from windows media... but try limewire (pretty sure you can download from there for free... though it's illegal)

windows media player probably wont work since your using itunes and there 2 different programs but if you get music from the itunes music stores then you have to pay $1 per song but if download an illegal program like limewire or napster and other stuff its free BUT before you go download one of those things they ruin your computer...they slow it down and break you ipod because you dont know what your downloading when u download a song you could be downloading theses huge files that break your ipod because theyr to big so it pays just to get the songs from itunes and pay a dollar for them
good luck!!*

well i can help you with part of that question. yes you have to pay to download the songs. it is one dollar per song. but if you already have songs on your comp. from like cd's you put on there you dont have to pay. the way you add songs from your cd's ( on iTUNES ) is like drag them into the thing on the side that is like Your iPod or w/e you name it.
sorry if that is confusing cause i am new at this too. but i tried my best as always.. HOPE I HELPED!!!
