It is just my opinion that it wouldn't be very smart for the banks to allow tranfer between banks without some sort of face to face contact. However, calling either bank would probably give you some insight, they might be able to do it over the phone.
And one more crazy idea. Do you have checks? Can you write a check for entire ammount of the account and cash it into the new account with the new bank? [ Razhie's advice column | Ask Razhie A Question ]
MummuM answered Sunday August 7 2005, 9:19 pm: I wouldn't really know if it would be different since you live in the UK. Maybe you could try asking a family member? Or you could also go to the bank, I think that would be your best bet. I do believe you can do banking online, so I'm sure you'd be able to switch banks. However, I don't think it would be a very good idea to transfer all your money over to a different bank online, since they need your pin number to do this. Even though these sites say it's 100% safe and there's no scams, someone could always get a hold of your pin number and take out all your money. So I think you should just go to the bank and do it.
