What to tell my coach. Ok, first off, a few months ago, I tore my labrum, dislocated my shoulder, and dented my shoulder socket. After insurance helped a little, my family owes $3200 in doctor bills. At the end of the school year, though, I signed up for football, because I figured it would heal by then. It hasn't. We just started practicing, and my shoulder is starting to make cracking noises when I move it because of some of the tackling drills. If I get hurt again, we don't have enough money to pay for doctor bills again. I honestly have no idea how to explain this to my coach. I don't want to make him mad or make him think I'm a quitter, but it's pretty painful and like I said, we can't afford it again.

You should definitely go and talk to your coach and just explain everything. The way I see it is that you are hurt. You shouldn't be thought of as a quitter for being hurt. Tell him you really don't want to make things worse, and you need more time to heal. Give your shoulder plenty of rest and if you're lucky, you can be back on the team next year. Thanks for the question, and feel free to send me something anytime you need help. ]
