How do I get started? I live in new york city and I am trying to start an ESL tutoring buddy system, where students help ESL students learn grammatical english, and then if we can get grant money expand into writing seminar classes, etc.
I know what I want to do but I have no idea how to get started, I've done some research on exsisting programs but other than I'm lost.
How do I get started?

What a great idea. I would suggest talking to the foreign language teachers in schools in your area. They will be able to help you in these ways:
1) Direct students that are bilingual to you to help tutor.
2) Direct students that need help with English to you.
3) Help you with possible language barriers.
4) Possibly help you set up the program.
I'm not sure what sites you've been to yet but I thought I'd list a few that would give you information.
The first is a discussion forum for teachers and students, offers interactive quizzes, common idioms and slang. The second one offers a cyber listening lab which may be helpful in tutoring. The third offers quizzes and exercises for students. The fourth offers lesson plans, exercises, even games. The fifth offers resources for teachers and students. The last offers resources for teaching younger ESL students.
