iwork for a small company and have ben told by my employer that he is going ltd can any give me any good advice as i have been told bt someone that he has to make me redundant and then re employ me .i have worked there for 8 yrs and am concerned that i will lose any entitlements owed if the company closes.

There is in the Uk a variance in law called TUPE which allows workers to continue even though the company itself changes. You should have something like that in the US. I suggest that if you are really worried then you contact Citizens Advice or a lawyer. I am pretty certain that you will have some kind of protection..
