I don't think you should because if you mention it, he'll probably still say he doesn't want a summer girlfriend ; just hang around him alot..ya know like in a way you are going out, but he hasn't asked you yet. And that'll still make him like you and stuff cause sometimes if people don't see their crushes and stuff they start to lose interest...Cause summer's almost over ( sadly..) so then whenever the year start's he'll still like you and then he'll ask you out!! Hope I helped!!
