Dog with a Hernia

Question Posted Friday July 8 2005, 8:41 am

My dog has a hernia, will it go away itself or does it need surgery, can i do anything to get rid of it

[ Answer this question ]

Additional info, added Friday July 8 2005, 9:17 am:
The Hernia is quite hard at times, the vet said a while back that it was harmless but it seems to have grown. Does her food have anything to do with this..

Usually a hernia requires a surgery to fix it. And about the food having to do with it, you may want to ask the vet to be sure. Good luck to your dog.

I hope this helped.

if it gets bigger or starts to swell and aggravate your dog you need to have surgery done. if it stays the same size and doesnt seem to bother your dog, leave it.

No, just stop having the dog do all that heavy lifting. Lay off the dogsled nanook.

I don't know about dogs but i'm sure its the same with people and dogs. they usually have to have surgury and have it removed. i'm pretty sure it isn't a major thing but pretty serious. you should take the dog to the vet for his opinion.
