Yes, you're correct, it is called masturbation. It's not necessarily a bad thing. There are several women out there who do it and there are several women who don't. It really depends on how comfortable you are with your body. It's completely natural to explore your body because it's actually a good thing to know yourself pretty well that way if anything foreign may show up you can take care of it.
