I don't think it would help any to be honest. I know that heavy makeup can cause acne by clogging your pores and I think toothpaste might just do the same.

Here are some tips for you though...for what they're worth.

Don't pick or mess with them (as you probably know

Use a product containing benzoyl peroxide. Use it once or twice a day. If it dries your skin out use a mild moisturiser. Try to avoid products that contain sulfer or resorcinol. They unplug oil glands by irritating the skin.

Use a mild soap such as dove unscented,Tone, Basis or Neutrogena. Rub lightly with your fingertips and warm water. Do not use a washcloth. If your skin is really oily see if you can find a soap that contains benzoyl peroxide.

Watch out for oily makeup products AND oily hair products too. They do make water based makeup. Eye makeup isn't a real problem since you probably won't get acne there.

Any pressure you put on your face will irritate acne. So, don't rest your chin on your hands. This goes for sweatbands and chin straps of any kind too (such as sports equipment, helmets etc.)

when using sunscreen (spf 15), look for one thats oil free or "noncomedogenic". Sunscreen can clog your pores.

eating chocolate or greasy type food and snacks have not been proven to cause acne in any way. YEAH!!!

Ok that should give you a good start. I worked in a doctors office for years and know these will help. IF you use the benzoyl peroxide for 6-8 weeks and it does not help at all...go to a dermatologist and see what they can offer. Hope these things help you out. :)
